Valentine’ Day, the Season of Love

Come February and lovers all around the world would celebrate the day dedicated to love. Known as the Valentine’s Day, the day is named after St. Valentine, who suffered martyrdom on this day.  He was killed for defying the orders of Emperor Claudius, who banned marriage for young men, as he believed that single men made good soldiers than those with wives and children. However, much to the displeasure of Emperor Claudius, Valentine continued to perform the marriages of young men secretly.

Another popular belief is that it was St. Valentine, the patron saint of lovers, who sent the first valentine greeting. While in prison, he fell in love with the jailor’ daughter and sent her a farewell note which he signed it as “From your Valentine”. This expression is still used by many of the lovers all over the world.

On this day, lovers express love for each other and exchange valentine’s gifts.  Today people can find unique valentine’ day gifts for him as well as her, but the most popular Valentine ’s Day gifts remains to be the same and they are

* Flowers
Flowers convey emotions more beautifully than words. Even the deepest feelings and desires of the heart can be conveyed without speaking a single word. Hence, it tops the list when it comes to valentine’ day gifts. On Valentine’ day the florists are found to have a tough time in handling requests for flowers especially red roses. Red rose signifies love and passion and hence it proclaims “I Love You” to whomever it is presented with.  Apart from red roses, purple lilacs, honeysuckle, red tulips, and pink carnations are also associated with romantic love.

* Greeting Cards
Another popular valentine’ day gift is a beautiful greeting card with wonderful wordings. Those who are not happy with flowers alone can send greeting cards as an accompaniment to it. With different types of greeting cards available such as photo greeting cards, personalized greeting cards, musical greeting cards, and pop up cards, sending cards are much more fun.

* Love Notes
Nothing can be more wonderful than love notes written by you. Include a love poem or a story in order to make it more beautiful.

As Valentine’ Day is just around the corner, get ready for the D-day and practice singing the song

Good morning to you, valentine;
Curl your locks as I do mine ---
Two before and three behind.
Good morning to you, valentine

Online Shopping Giving Equal Playing Ground to All

Businesses are benefiting hugely by doing business online. Ecommerce, the online transaction system has broken barriers and brought the world closer, giving everyone across geography an equal playing ground for their market, through the e-stores or virtual stores.

The amount of trade conducted electronically has grown manifold and so has online shopping. India being a big IT player is stepping ahead keeping pace with the global standards. Online shopping in India is catching up fast. Previously Indians were going online to shop for products that were available abroad. But this concept is changing now; you can see people purchasing things that are available in any mall in their city.

Today’s netizen is net savvy and the fast paced life gives us less time to spend looking around shops or deal with the crowd, the traffic and never ending queues. The concept is, if you can get the same product sitting in the comfort of your bedroom, why would one want to go in the mad rush. For whatever reason, more and more people are going online to buy presents for family and friends today.

Due to lesser internet penetration, unfavorable tax regulations, few debit or credit card holders and not many websites offering the option of cash on delivery, it has taken India longer time to be on the online shopping map.

With online shopping in India emerging  gradually, people are now buying all kind of products online such as electronics, online books, air and rail tickets, apparels, appliances, handicrafts, paintings, jewellery, gift vouchers, mobiles and many more.
Online shopping has many benefits:

Shop at your Convenience – Shop 24/7 at the time you want.  You save traveling time to stores and can spend that time on other important tasks. According to a researcher’ Schnapps & Belanger, convenience is the fundamental reason related to online shopping.  Online shoppers' claim that they would rather surf online than go to retail store to attain information about a product.

Review – Online you can find reviews and ratings about all products that help you know the performance of the products and decision making becomes easier.

Product, Rate and Feature Comparison - With the online tools that enable product comparison, consumer’s awareness is increased and they can compare product prices and features to make a better decision.

Shop across Geography – You do not have to be in UK or US or India to shop in stores there. All these shops allow you to shop online while shelf space in a store is limited, which means that your choice becomes limited. Not so with an online store. The advantage being, if you don't see what you want in one store online, you can simply move on to the next one - you've got the power to do that.

Privacy and security: Online shopper is worried about privacy and security, but there are precautions you can take to make sure your transaction is a safe one. For example, paying attention to HTTPS protocols, installing free spyware removal tools, being aware of online scams and hoaxes,   and keeping your Web usage private are all smart ways to address any privacy and security issues.
Online shopping in India is here to stay and it will only become bigger and bigger. There may be many disadvantages to this but that has not deterred consumers from exploring this new and cost-effective mode of shopping.

Online shopping progressing gradually

The world is shrinking. You no longer have to wait for your cousins or uncle aunts to come on holiday to get you those exclusive items, chocolates etc available abroad. Amazing isn't it? You can just sitting at home surf for any product, available across the world and order. Everything to do with the internet is growing, so are shopping websites.

Maybe it is the fast paced life and the hustle and bustle of modern society that gives us less time to spend looking around shops or maybe we are just getting fed up of the crowd, the traffic and never ending queues. For whatever reason, more people are going online to buy presents for family and friends today.

India is coming of age in the online shopping league. It is gradually increasing its pace but due to slower Internet penetration, lack of debit or credit card holders being few with not many websites offering the option of cash on delivery and certain unfavorable tax regulations. Online shopping is popular only with people in huge metro cities. However, today with more and more people are shopping online.

With India online shopping developing gradually, people are buying products such as electronics, online books, air and rail tickets, apparels, appliances, handicrafts, paintings, jewellery, gift vouchers, mobiles and many more.  A number of market research firms have predicted that online shopping and retail sales will triple to around £19 million within four years.
This article will explore some of the main factors that explain the popularity of online shopping.

* Shopping online at your convenience – You can shop at your convenience 24/7/365 days from the convenience of your air-conditioned apartment or office.  This is a huge advantage especially for people who are working and people who have mobility problems.

* Online Comparison - Web has become a major hub for surfing for products you are interested in. You can find numerous sites that stock the product you are interested in buying and can compare prices and models before buying. It would be time consuming if you go physically and compared prices from one store to another.

* Review - You can find online reviews about all products. It helps you in measuring the performance of the products. You can decide on the product based on the review with a click on the mouse button.

* Rare Items - No matter what you are trying to find a collectible or antique or even an original part for a vintage car, to give a few examples you can be sure that someone somewhere will have it for sale on the internet or will be able to tell you where you can source it from at a bargain price.

On-line shopping can have its disadvantages too; online transactions involve the on-line exchange of card information. And, considering that it’s done on the internet there could be security risks involved. Your account maybe tampered and utilized illegally without your consent by hackers. But that has not deterred consumers from exploring this new and cost-effective mode of shopping.
